Helicopters to Drop Thousands of Easter Eggs in Dunedin

Two helicopter pilots are dropping 10,000 plastic Easter eggs at Highlander Park on Saturday.

The plastic, pastel eggs are loaded with prizes and ready to go airborne. All 10,000 snap-tight Sunny Bunny Easter Eggs, which are specifically designed for helicopter drops, were driven over in boxes to Tampa Bay Aviation in Clearwater on Monday, says Angel Trueblood, a new Dunedin employee organizing her first city event. The next time those eggs will see Dunedin is on the descent of a 20-foot free-fall over Highlander Park on Saturday. And the city has so many eggs, they wouldn't all fit into the single Robinson R22 helicopter they rented for $300, says Trueblood. The pilot would have had to make several trips. Can you say "Total Chaos" or "Mass Hysteria"? Are you kidding? I took two 6 yr. old's and one 8 yr. old to this event. The vendor lines were a city-block long to get food and/or to get in the bouncy house. The egg drop was enclosed in a fenced in area, but when they opened the fence the children who were not in the front of the lines got NO eggs! Wearable Art is Runaway Success at DFAC Event

Multiple designers put their creativity to the test at the Wearable Art 8 Fashion Show in Dunedin.

Dunedin Fine Art Center's eighth annual Wearable Art Fashion Show was a monumental affair on Aug. 11. Several designers put their creativity to the test, and created outfits that wowed almost 1,000 attendees. Here is some information on the designers who participated and their lines. Rocky and Kathleen Bridges made a trashy chic appearance out a combination of fabric and found metal in a display called From Rags to Bitches. Michael Della Penna, a world champion in Moscow, made an Aluminum Fashion Experiment show with his models. Mark Byrne with Funny Money Productions used ordinary balloons and turned them into creative headware and full length couture. Byrne has traveled the world and has performed in Shanghai, Brussels, London, Las Vegas…
