Saturday marks a night of brews and baseball at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. Special guests Sea Dog Brewing Company, Dunedin Brewery and Florida Avenue Ales highlight the Dunedin Blue Jays' first "Craft Beer Night" on May 4. Sportsnet, a sports broadcasting network, is planning weeks of coverage from Florida Auto Exchange Stadium, as the sports world keeps all eyes on Dunedin at the start of Spring Training season.
With some experts predicting Toronto to win Major League Baseball's World Championship this year, the sports world is keeping all eyes on Dunedin as the 2013 Spring Training season gets underway. Sportsnet, a sports broadcasting network, filmed its show "Connected" live in front of Florida Auto Exchange Stadium on Monday, Feb. 18, and reports that it has every intention of continuing its coverage from Dunedin. The Dunedin Blue Jays celebrated clinching a playoff spot by going old school, creating Nintendo-inspired season highlights in a YouTube video.
To celebrate their clinching of a playoff spot earlier this summer and to get their fans pumped up for the upcoming postseason, the Dunedin Blue Jays have gone old school. In fact, they've turned clock all the way back to '80s with the Nintendo-inspired highlight video they unveiled this week on YouTube. The video includes 8-bit highlights from their June 20 win over Clearwater, when the D-Jays clinched the Florida State League's North division and a trip to the playoffs. It's an updated version of Nintendo's 1987 classic R.B.I. As part of Major League Baseball's spring training with the Toronto Blue Jays calling Dunedin their spring home each year, baseball is a major boost to Florida's economy.
In a release honoring the Florida cities, including Dunedin, that host Major League Baseball spring training sites, Florida Gov. Rick Scott emphasized the economic impact baseball has on the Sunshine State. Locally, that's the Toronto Blue Jays, which call Dunedin home each spring.
