Countryside Mall Makes Case As Commercial Mecca

The retail center is expanding its presence as a commercial destination with additions including BJs Brewhouse, Cobb Theater and Bar Louie. Plans also include adding a P.F. Chang’s and possibly the area's first Whole Foods Market.

Look out International Plaza, Westfield Countryside Mall is attempting to build its reputation as a destination retail mecca. The $12 million in renovations recently lured in a Cobb Theater, and its restaurant row features destination eateries like BJs Brewhouse, Grimaldi’s, Red Robin and Bar Louie. A P.F. Chang’s is planned to open in February 2013 and rumor has it the county's first Whole Foods Market could come to the space as well. Lauren Clark, spokeswoman with the mall, said that through enhancements like the Cobb movie theater and restaurant row, retailers are choosing the mall as their place for space.  Clark said the mall is seeing double-digit traffic increases in shoppers and every available storefront is leased. Whole Foods Location: Plans Are Moving Forward, Countryside Mall Says

Plans are moving forward to bring the natural foods grocery chain to Clearwater, officials with Westfield Countryside Mall said Monday.

Plans are moving forward to bring Pinellas County's first Whole Foods Market to Westfield Countryside Mall, officials with the mall confirmed Monday. “From what we have seen and are allowed to speak about, Sears is working directly with (Whole Foods),” said Lauren Clark, spokeswoman with Westfield Countryside Mall. “We don’t have a date on exactly but we do know they are looking to move forward.” Whole Foods officials said they do not have a specific location in mind yet but are planning to open a store in Clearwater sometime in 2014. An architecture firm, which does not represent Whole Foods but has completed similar projects for Sears throughout the country, presented plans on subdividing 37,000 square feet for the grocery store to city …
