5 Things to Do This Weekend: Aug. 10-12

Here are our picks for fun things to do this weekend in Dunedin. What will you be doing?

1. 2nd Friday Wine and Art Walk. Enjoy an evening of wine tastings, gourmet foods and prizes this weekend. Purchase a $10 wristband at select locations to become eligible for special perks and prizes. 2. Photography Exhibit: "Hot August Nights". This is a photography exhibit with a different photography perspective. Showcased photographers include Susan Duda, Elizabeth Faubert, Jim Goins, Stu Harrison, Kathy Lerche, Candace Spathelf, Steven Whalen and Jeremy Landau. Visitors can also enjoy the nine artist-in-residence studios. 3. World Pipe Band Championship. The city of Dunedin pipe band will be competing in Scotland on Saturday. Super Heroes Unite at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium

Fans attended the Dunedin Blue Jays Super Hero Night wearing their best costumes. See what else the D-Jays have in store for fans.

Perfect for a summer filled with highly-anticipated super hero blockbuster films, fans came out to Florida Auto Exchange Stadium to watch the Dunedin Blue Jays last Saturday donning their best super hero attire. Folks from all over turned out for the Third Annual Dunedin Orange Festival, which celebrates Dunedin's orange harvesting heritage. Among all the festivities, the Mojo Cook-Off put many area restaurants in a fierce competition that left returning champions Sea Sea Riders Restaurant the victor. 5 Weekend Things to Do

Here are our top five picks for fun weekend activities in Dunedin (in chronological order).

1) Third Annual Dunedin Orange Festival.  Celebrate the official fruit of Florida and Dunedin's orange grove heritage this weekend at the third annual Dunedin Orange Festival; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday; Edgewater Park; Free admission; $10 for Mojo Cook-off tasting. 2) Marker 8 Orange Festival. Keep the citrus fun going at the Marker 8 Orange Festival. The event features a live DJ, orange vodka drink specials, and lots of giveaways. Event is for ages 18 and up; 4 p.m to 10 p.m., Saturday; Beso Del Sol Resort; Free to attend. 3) Golden Growler Grab.  Seventh Sun Brewing Company is offering 50 grab "cases," or boxes containing a mix of merchandise and prizes. Viewfinder: Kids Celebrate Touch-a-Truck

The annual event in Dunedin once again delights kids as they visit rocket cars, log cabin trucks, and everything in between.

Children climbed onto vehicles of all shapes and sizes, from miniature yellow Volkswagens to massive vehicles carved from trees on April 30. The 10th annual event took place in Dunedin's Highlander Park and included non-motorized attractions like pony rides and bounce houses. "We've come since my twin boys were about 18 months old, and they'll be 7 this month," Kimberly Sullivan said as her 3-year-old daughter Madison rode a pony. "We love all the trucks, and we enjoy doing something for the family that's also free. And these are the kinds of things they wouldn't normally be exposed to."
