Get rid of unwanted and expired prescription medication seven days a week at the Operation Medicine Cabinet drop box at North District Station on Louden Avenue. The drop box is located in the lobby for anyone to use from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., daily. To use it, just bring the prescription medications to the front desk at North District Station, 737 Louden Ave, and law enforcement will help in placing the items in the drop box. After the medication is dropped of it is destroyed by incineration. What is accepted?  Any prescription drug or medicine used for people or pets, including pills, liquids, inhalers, patches and Epi-Pens. New Pinellas Sheriff's Captain at Dunedin Station Explains Challenges, Changes

Pinellas County Sheriff's Capt. Glenn Luben, the new man in charge of day-to-day patrol operations in north Pinellas, shares challenges he and his deputies face in times of tightening budgets and evolving technology.

Glenn Luben, the new sheriff's captain in charge of north Pinellas County, was headed down a much different path. As a teenager growing up in Clearwater during the late 1970s and early '80s, he was starting to get into a lot of trouble. That is, until he stumbled upon a Police Explorers program, he said. The action, excitement and non-stop nature of the job sold him. "Had that not happened, I might have ended up in jail," he said.  Luben, 50, who replaced Capt. Sheriff to Move New Captain to North District Station, Consolidate PAL Program

Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri is moving a new captain to oversee Dunedin at North District Station and discontinuing the youth PAL program at Dunedin Highland Middle School as part of many changes to take effect by Jan. 1.

A new captain takes command at North District Station this January. Glenn Luben is being promoted from the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.), a division of the Patrol Operations Bureau, to oversee patrol operations at North District Station in Dunedin, according to Marianne Pasha, director of communications at the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. Luben will also oversee the Sheriff's additional contract cities of Safety Harbor and Oldsmar.  Capt. W. Hagans will be moving from his role at North District Station to a new position in the Investigative Operations Bureau.
