"Watching the rescue dogs that have come through my house, I have to say that for a while I feel they remember the bad things, but when they are around good things, the bad tends to fade away."
How many of you have seen the YouTube videos of dogs welcoming their owner’s home from the military? I cry almost every time I see them. As I watched one today, I saw another titled "Reunited After 3.5 Years!" Joplin, the dog, seems so excited and happy to see its owner. After watching, I wondered if they remember everything, or choose to remember only the things they want. Watching the rescue dogs that have come through my house, I have to say that for a while I feel they remember the bad things, but when they are around good things, the bad tends to fade away. For an example, I have told you about my old foster Baxter that would hide …

Volunteers learned consistent ways to teach dogs how to sit and walk on a leash, which helps improve their chances at finding forever homes.
Pinellas County Animal Services continues to improve life for its shelter animals. Animal Services' new training program ensures that all volunteer dog walkers use the same techniques. Training helps the dogs get and stay adopted. The new training program provides consistency for the dogs at the shelter. "Dogs learn more rapidly when trained using a consistent method," said Dr. Caroline Thomas, director of veterinary services. Volunteers from the SPCA Tampa Bay and Four on the Floor Dog Training covered the basics of sitting, jumping, walking on a leash, pulling on the leash, and more with volunteers from Pinellas County Animal Services. The training will continue on a regular basis, dog trainer Terry Meeks said. "Everyone wants a calm dog…
