Charities Hopeful Despite Economic Setbacks

Charities say people may give less because of the struggling economy, but they are still donating.

Dunedin's charitable organizations are struggling to help the less fortunate during times when everyone is less fortunate. This holiday season, area charities did see fluctuations in contributions this year, but the important thing, they said, is that while people tended to donate less, they still donated what they could. Four area charities shared how their contributions were affected this year. Toys For Tots Pinellas Toys for Tots Pinellas said that donations at drop-off sites like Publix did well this year, although it expressed a special need for children ages 0 to 2 and 10 to 13.
