Jennie Wilson, El Huarche' Azteca...the best Mexican food in the area hands down!! Meet the Moms & Pops

For New Owners of Dunedin Smokehouse, Living Room, Opportunity Knocked Twice

Philip and Tammy Renaud are the new proprietors of both the Dunedin Smokehouse and The Living Room in downtown Dunedin.

Opportunity knocked twice for Philip Renaud and wife Tammy. The couple recently acquired The Living Room and The Dunedin Smokehouse restaurants on Main Street in downtown Dunedin. Renaud has worked for the last 12 years in the Boston area as a wine consultant and restaurant designer specializing in custom wine cellars. He said a few years ago he and his wife started looking to acquire their own restaurant. The couple's dream was to find "a small place near the water on Florida’s west coast," where he could feature some of his special recipes and share his love of good wine. The couple started their search along the Sunshine State’s Gulf coast, looking at places from Clearwater to Fort Myers. Fate had bigger ideas. In October, he was able …

Spoto’s Shines a Spotlight on New Electronic Menus

The upscale steak joint recently added illuminated menus at its Main Street location.

You left your glasses at home and now in the dim lighting of the restaurant, you can't read the menu. Well, Jimmy Stewart, owner of Jimmy’s Spoto’s The Steak Joint, has come up with an innovative solution. He recently added 100 electronically illuminated menus at his Main Street establishment.  “People open them up and go, 'Wow. I can read them without my glasses.' Or they wait for their dinner partner to open them so they can watch the expression on their face,” he said.  The menus cost roughly $65 apiece and take about an hour to charge completely.  Stewart received his shipment of 100 units about a month ago, and he says he hasn’t regretted the decision, despite the potential pitfalls of giving expensive electronic equipment to his …
