Lockdown, Emergency Procedures to be Reviewed, Pinellas School Chief Says

Pinellas County Schools Superintendent Michael A. Grego sent a letter Monday to Pinellas County Schools staff in response to the deadly shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT.

Grego, Pinellas County Schools superintendent, sent a system-wide letter to staff Monday calling for a review of all lockdown and emergency procedures in response to Friday's deadly shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT. Yesterday and today there was a Police Officer at Clearwater Fundamental Middle and my kids felt safe, to be fair they felt safe before because of their strict rules regarding school entry but after hearing all weekend on every channel about the mass shooting, my kids felt safe with the officer being there. I fully agree with the above comments. I'm an avid rider on the trail and never assume a vehicle is going to stop and as a car driver crossing the trail, I never assume a bicyclist is going to stop. Eye contact between car driver and bike rider is essential to negotiating who stops and who waits. My experience is that 99% of car drivers yield to the cyclist.
