Dunedin students can enjoy a four-day weekend leading up to Monday's observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. All of Pinellas County's public schools are closed Friday, Jan. 18, for a Teacher Work Day, and closed again Monday, Jan. 22, for the national holiday, according to the district calendar. Here's a look at Labor Day holiday hours for some government services and parks on Monday, Sept. 3, according to news releases. Regular hours of operation will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 4.

Monday's opening of the Republican National Convention in Tampa has been canceled, officials said.
The first day of the Republican National Convention in Tampa on Monday has been wiped out by the threat of Tropical Storm Isaac, the Tampa Bay Times reports. Officials announced the opening day's cancellation during a conference call Saturday, the Times reports. The newspaper posted the following statement from Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus on its website: "Due to the severe weather reports for the Tampa Bay area, the Republican National Convention will convene on Monday August 27th and immediately recess until Tuesday afternoon, August 28th.
