Pinellas County Sheriff's detectives arrested a Palm Harbor man on Feb. 7 in connection with a string of recent robberies and a burglary at a Munchee's convenience store in Dunedin.
A fingerprint lifted from a stolen lottery ticket is the key piece of evidence authorities used to find the suspect in a string of recent Dunedin convenience store robberies. Pinellas County Sheriff's detectives arrested Trevor David Winsett, 24, of 402 North Carolina Ave. in Palm Harbor, late Thursday, Feb. 7, in connection with two robberies and a recent smash-and-grab burglary of 100 scratch-off lottery tickets at Munchee's, 2100 Bayshore Blvd. Detectives say Winsett gave the lottery tickets from the Jan. 29 burglary to his brother to repay a debt. Winsett's brother went with his girlfriend to cash the winning tickets a few hours later at a Palm Harbor 7-Eleven, two miles north of the burglary at 100 Alt. U.S. 19, according to …

Pinellas County Sheriff's detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect who stole scratch-off lottery tickets from a Dunedin Munchee's convenience store on Friday. Authorities believe he may be connected to a recent string.
Pinellas County Sheriff's detectives are asking for the public's help identifying a suspect who smashed through a window and took 100 lottery tickets from a Dunedin convenience store on Jan. 29 and cashed them just hours later in Palm Harbor. Detectives believe he may be connected to two previous robberies at the same store, including a Jan. 17 armed robbery, after which tickets were cashed at a Clearwater gas station. Authorities say that on Jan. 29, a white male, about 6 feet tall and 165 pounds, wearing a gray hooded jacket, smashed the window to get inside Munchee's on Bayshore Boulevard at 5:57 a.m. He allegedly went behind the counter, pulled about 100 scratch-off lottery tickets and took several packets of cigarettes. A rash of incidents prompted Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies to remind parents dropping off kids at schools and child care facilities to bring valuables inside with them if they leave their care and lock their doors.
Suspects are targeting valuables in parked cars, especially at schools and child care centers lately, Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies said in a news release. The suspects have been seen parking next to parents' vehicles while they are dropping kids off at schools and child care facilities, then waiting to grab purses and other valuables left in plain sight when the parent leaves the area. Sheriff's say that soon after, the suspects are using the victim's identification to cash stolen checks. In some cases, the victims' cars were left unlocked. In other cases, windows have been smashed. A rash of burglaries over the past two weeks prompted deputies to issue a warning to many local schools and child care centers earlier this week. …

Sorry to hear this. And yes, it is a lesson, hopefully for everyone. I'd say the couple are at least due an apology. On the other hand, cops deal with suspects who would rather lie than breathe every single day - more are lying than are not I'd guess. Not justifying their rush to judgment, but just saying. Also not sure if "their future is destroyed" is not a bit of an over statement. If that is …   more ›
