Casa Tina Cinco de Mayo Street Fiesta 2013: What to Know

Casa Tina's is ready to transform downtown Dunedin into a Mexican fiesta for the Cinco de Mayo weekend. Here's what's to know before you go.

May means it's fiesta time at Casa Tina Healthy, Fresh, Authentic Mexican. Part of Main Street closes this weekend for its 21st annual Cinco de Mayo street festival. And this year's celebration stretches two days — May 4 and 5 — for a weekend chock full of margaritas, Mexican food, mariachi bands and salsa dance lessons. Beer, tequila and margarita tents will be set up outside on the block of Main Street closed between Pinellas Trail and Douglas Avenue. Restaurateur Tina Avila invited a salsa dance school so participants can learn basic steps before the real festivities begin. Dunedin Craft Beer Night Comes to Blue Jays Ballpark

Dunedin Blue Jays celebrate local craft brews with special guests Sea Dog Brewing Company, Dunedin Brewery and Florida Avenue Ales, to name a few.

Saturday marks a night of brews and baseball at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. Special guests Sea Dog Brewing Company, Dunedin Brewery and Florida Avenue Ales highlight the Dunedin Blue Jays' first "Craft Beer Night" on May 4. Dunedin Hip-Hop Goes Hero to Strike Out Cancer

Freestylists attending the Dunedin Lyricist Society's weekly hip-hop open mic night at Blur on Monday are hoping to raise funds for Dunedin Relay for Life.

Jon Didier arrives a little frazzled on a recent Monday at Blur Night Club. Didier, 25, a city parks and recreation employee recognized by his trademark dark-rimmed glasses and dreadlocks, explains a crazy day wrought with car problems. He made it just in time to start setting up for Hip-Hop Open Mic Night with his pajama-clad friend Derek Saballos, only to discover an unprecedented problem with the mic lines.  All of the tension melts away when Didier lets go and allows his hip-hip alter ego "J Ditty" take over as emcee at 10 p.m. when free-styling is scheduled to begin. In the back, live local graffiti artists are spraying on large planks of wood or other canvases.  He introduces the small, loyal gathering to Dunedin Lyricist Society's …

Island Earth Days 2013 at Honeymoon: Weekend Schedule

This two-day weekend eco-celebration highlights the natural attributes of Honeymoon and Caladesi island state parks.

Meet live animals, climb a rock wall or take a walk on the water. Honeymoon Island State Park has many more eco-activities planned at this weekend's Island EarthDays celebration, including food and beer, craft vendors, live music, children's events and education exhibits that all showcase the island's natural attributes. Participants can win prize drawings or bid on auction items throughout the two-day event. Proceeds benefit Friends of the Island Parks, a non-profit that supports the needs of Honeymoon and Caladesi Island state parks. The organization is focusing major fundraising efforts on plans for a roughly $700,000 observation and education tower for Caladesi Island.
