An employer was able to identify Gerald Mihalinec, who was apparently hurt in a single bicycle crash earlier this week and who remained hospitalized Wednesday night.
Investigators have identified a man who was apparently hurt in a single bicycle crash on the Dunedin Causeway and who remained hospitalized Wednesday night. Gerald A. Mihalinec, 62, of Dunedin, was found shortly after 9 p.m. Monday seriously injured and lying on the sidewalk on the west side of the drawbridge near the beach access. A 911 call led authorities to the man, who they believe was involved in a single bicycle crash and may have had a medical episode, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office reports. According to investigators, there did not appear to be any signs of alcohol or drug impairment. A 16-year-old Clearwater boy sustained non-life threatening injuries after being struck by a Jeep Cherokee at the intersection of Main Street and New York Avenue in Dunedin late Saturday.
A teen bicyclist was injured when he was struck by a vehicle while riding on a Main Street sidewalk Saturday night in Dunedin, authorities report. The 16-year-old Clearwater boy's injuries are not life-threatening, Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies report. He was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment. Patrol deputies say the teen was not wearing a helmet and did not have lights on the bike. Daniel E. McLaughlin was riding a bicycle east on Main Street on the sidewalk just after 8 p.m. Saturday, according to deputies. Mary J. A Clearwater bicyclist died Sunday afternoon after he flipped over his handlebars on Dunedin Causeway. Authorities report that a tree branch became lodged in his spokes.
A Clearwater bicyclist is dead Sunday after a tree branch became stuck in his spokes on the Dunedin Causeway and caused him to flip over his handlebars, deputies say. Henry J. Ellowitz, 69, was riding his bicycle on Causeway Boulevard on Sunday afternoon. He was the top of the drawbridge traveling east, about to head down, when Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies say they believe he struck a tree branch sometime around 4:15 p.m. Deputies from the Major Accident Investigation Team said the branch became lodged in his front spokes causing his front tire to lock. As a result, Ellowitz vaulted over the handlebars. Two witnesses who were in vehicles traveling in the same direction as Ellowitz stopped immediately and began to assist him. …
