About Jim

My wife of 53 y and I have lived in Dunedin Isles since 2001.

My wife is a retired RN/CCM. I am a plastics manufacturing engineer/consultant and travel internationally. We have two adult children, 4 grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren. I paint acrylics and write both technical books and murder mysteries. My latest book is Curse of the Gallows, on Booklocker and Amazon. We have been season ticket holders with the Dunedin Blue Jays Florida State League baseball team since we moved here and have served on the team's Booster and Fan Advisory boards.

For several years, we were active in Dunedin Volunteer Emergency Response Team (DVERT), a local group affiliated with the national organization of Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). CERT is a volunteer organization under FEMA and Homeland Security. DVERT/CERT members receive 20+ hours of formal training, formerly mentored by Bill McElligott, former Dunedin Fire Marshal. Training includes Triage, Search and Rescue, Fire Suppression, and other activies. CERT purpose is to back up first responders in a disaster such as a hurricane. In addition to the 20+ h of local training, many recieve additional training on special workdays. I received an additional 20+ hours of training as a CERT Instructor and am a ham radio operator. There were about 50 trained DVERT/CERT members when we left DVERT over liability issue concerns a couple of years ago.
