Pipe Band Wins Warmup to World Championships in Scotland

The City of Dunedin Pipe Band took first place out of 11 bands over the weekend in North Berwick, Scotland, one week before the 30 local pipers compete in the World Pipe Band Championships in Scotland, to be aired live at Flanagan's Irish Pub.

The City of Dunedin Pipe Band took first place out of 11 bands in the North Berwick Highland Games in Scotland over the weekend.

The news came from Moira Donaldson, elated wife of piping director Iain Donaldson in Scotland, on Saturday afternoon. The North Berwick Highland Games are a precursor to the World Pipe Band Championships on Aug. 11 in Glasgow, Scotland.

  • Thursday at the Pipes of Peace Concert (with the 2011 World Champions Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band from Ireland)

About 30 local musicians will be among the estimated 8,000 competitors participating, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
